The elegant, spacious and light-drenched conservatory dining room is set in a beautiful Victorian villa which is on Midsummer Common on the banks of the River Cam, Cambridge. Midsummer House was awarded its first Michelin star in 2002, followed by a second in 2005. The restaurant also proudly holds five AA rosettes.

  • Daniel Clifford

A professional chef for over twenty years, Daniel is Chef Patron of this stunning two Michelin-starred restaurant, Midsummer House in Cambridge. He is also widely regarded as one of the most inventive and gifted chefs of his generation. Renowned for his modern British cooking, underpinned by an unmistakably French style, he reinvents British classics using the finest local produce. He has held two Michelin stars since 2005.

  • Mark Abbott

Head Chef, Mark Abbott, came from a farming background in County Antrim in Northern Ireland. He was drawn to the kitchen after completing work experience at a local hotel. Mark learned his kitchen skills under the tutorage of Michael Deane at Deane’s on the Square in Helen’s Bay, County Down, where Michael Deane earned his first Michelin star.

Cambridge is one of the world's oldest university towns. Established in 1209, the first 'college' was formed in 1284 following receipt of a Royal Charter from King Edward 1. Fitzwilliam Museum.

The Fitzwilliam Museum is home to over half a million artworks and its collection traverses from 2500 BC to today. The museum's origins date back to 1816 when the 7th Viscount Fitzwilliam of Merrion bequeathed his estates collections of art, books and music to the University of Cambridge.

The Museum's public opening was in 1848 and today the Museum has one of the finest collections of paintings, prints and drawings in Britain. Famous artists on display include Picasso, Monet, Rubens, Constable, and Breughel. Among the thousands of wonderful exhibits on display, it is also known for its antiquities collections sourced from Egypt, Greece, Rome, Cyprus and the near east.
