Tesco opened its 2000th Express store in Cambridge in March 2023

On the 1st of March 2023 Tesco announced the opening of its 2,000th Express store in Lion Yard shopping centre, Cambridge. This significant milestone reflects Tesco’s commitment to serving customers wherever, whenever and however they want to shop and supports its ambition to be the UK’s most convenient retailer.

Tesco first launched the Express format in 1994 with the new, 'smaller format' designed to bring value to more customers in more locations and has now expanded the format with nearly 80% of the UK now within 10 minutes of an Express store.

• The store is located on Petty Cury, which is part of the Lion Yard shopping centre, Cambridge.

• The store will be open seven days a week, from 7am to 11pm.


Best of British! Tesco launches dedicated page to champion fresh British produce in April 2024

Tesco launched the - Best of British - page on the company's groceries website to help customers support British farmers
More than 500 British products will be available in total, including hundreds of locally produced products. The page is the latest move by Tesco to help support its dedicated British farmers and producers. Tesco, British agriculture’s biggest customer, has launched a dedicated ‘Best of British’ page on its groceries website, making it even easier for customers across the UK to shop the best British grown and produced food, and support British farmers and producers in the process. The site brings together more than 500 British products, including hundreds of locally produced items, allowing Tesco’s online customers to browse and pick their favourites.

Customers will be able to shop the best quality, affordable fresh produce, including fruit and vegetables, meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products, as well as browse a range of recipes inspired by traditional British favourites, including a Spring potato salad, and apple and berry crumble.

The Best of British page is now live on the Tesco groceries website: British seasonal produce – meat, fish, fruit and veg – Tesco Groceries - Tesco Groceries Products displayed on the page will vary depending on seasonal availability and local and regional ranging in a customer’s local store.

Fitzwilliam Museum.

The Fitzwilliam Museum is home to over half a million artworks and its collection traverses from 2500 BC to today. The museum's origins date back to 1816 when the 7th Viscount Fitzwilliam of Merrion bequeathed his estates collections of art, books and music to the University of Cambridge.

The Museum's public opening was in 1848 and today the Museum has one of the finest collections of paintings, prints and drawings in Britain. Famous artists on display include Picasso, Monet, Rubens, Constable, and Breughel. Among the thousands of wonderful exhibits on display, it is also known for its antiquities collections sourced from Egypt, Greece, Rome, Cyprus and the near east.
